Level 3 - Advanced Practitioner

12 month contract

Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC) is the Australian Defence Force's (ADF) operational level headquarters responsible for the command and control of ADF operations.

Assessments are informed by reporting of OAA performance and task accomplishment, intelligence assessments and the collection of evidence providing insight to operational and environmental change. The application of scientific methods using this data and reporting of insights supports decision-making on adaption and optimisation for mission success.

The Role

The role’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Theatre Campaign Planning

  • Adaption of current operations and exercises

  • Designing and maintain operational assessment plans, to support campaign, operational and JTF level assessments

  • Plan, collect and manage data in order to support operational level assessments

  • Apply and interpret data/statistical assessment methodologies, including the identification of new methods and techniques

Your Background & Experience

The role requires demonstrated experience in:

  • Prior experience in Defence is essential with staff officer experience in a Defence/Joint/Service Headquarters highly desirably

  • Tertiary qualification in any of the following:

  • Statistical Analysis

  • Operational Analysis

  • Data Analytics

  • Mathematical Statistics

  • Decision Analysis or analytics

  • Qualitative Analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to manage own time effectively, take ownership and responsibility for tasks allocated, and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work independently, and also to effectively liaise directly with the ADF doctrine stakeholder group

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders

  • Be adaptive and flexible in managing changing priorities in a fast paced task focused environment
